Images of World War II by E. F. Conrad
Many years after my father passed I discovered these prints of images my father took during his service as a Combat Engineer during WWII with the U.S. Army. All I had were prints - no date or time stamps, no sequence numbers, just notes on the print margin. Sometimes it was the name of a town, sometimes a note briefly summarizing the subject. I don’t even know what type of camera dad used, but whatever he used had to fit in the back of a rucksack and withstand the daily abuse of miserable weather and rough handling. I doubt he even had a detachable lens. What he did have was an appreciation for light and composition. This was prior to his career as a professional photographer. He was largely self-taught.
